Zoe Crosher
For Ur Eyes Only — The Unveiling of Michelle duBois
Opening Reception — November 6th, 2010

Emma Gray is pleased to announce her newly created project space, EGHQ, in Culver City which will host the final part of Zoe Crosher’s exhibition, ‘For Ur Eyes Only –The Unveiling of Michelle duBois’. Curated in conjunction with Charlie James Gallery, Dan Graham Gallery, the California Biennial at the Orange County Museum of Art and a performance at the Royal Pagoda Hotel, all will kick off on October 21st in Chinatown.

For the site specific exhibition at EGHQ, Zoe Crosher will present a wall of images, revealing the backs of photographic images from the archive, for the final ‘unveiling’. Michelle duBois frequently scribbled and annotated her snapshots, divulging secrets and revealing detailed information of names, hotels, meeting places or famous quotes by her heroine Mae West. The hinted-at information and inability to see the fronts of the photographs are as much a part of the Michelle duBois tease as the more full frontal poses in Crosher’s series The Last Four Days and Nights in Tokyo, a series that marks the end of the involvement with the archive. Intertwined among the textual backs are the analog backs, falling apart and disintegrating. There will be an additional private performance by actress Liane Balaban.
